Day 10 - March 20
Put the Bible on Your Pillow
Put the Bible on Your Pillow
The
second nut and bolt you need in order to grow into the fullness of life is to
get a Bible and put it, not on a shelf or on the table by your bed, but on your
pillow. The pillow is the secret.
You can’t go to sleep with a Bible under your ear. Putting one on your pillow will guarantee that you pick it up once a day—more than most people do in a lifetime. And that will radically change your life. Again, please don’t take my word for it. Start doing it and see.
You do have to make a promise, but one so easy to keep you will never have an excuse to break it. Promise God that when you pick up your Bible from your pillow you will never go to sleep without reading one line.
Does that sound ridiculous? Like “tokenism”? Why not a chapter? Because you wouldn’t do it. Why not a paragraph, then? Because some nights you wouldn’t do that either. Why not at least a complete sentence? The answer is that you want to make your promise so easy—so ridiculously easy—that it will never be too hard to keep it.

Stop
now and think. Does this make sense to
me?

Fell behind a bit, but this is actually really good advice, and I never thought of it before. I have my Bible right on my nightstand. Yet I only pick it up to read what seems like once a month, if that. I will give this a go!
