Day 11 - March 21, 2019

30 Days to a Vibrant Spirituality Online Retreat

Day 11 - March 21
Just One Line?

If you just read one line, you have the satisfaction, the self-affirmation, of having kept your promise to God. You begin the day keeping your resolution.
If you begin and end every day keeping a promise to God, that is encouraging. You begin with a win and end with a victory. That is self-affirming. It motivates you to keep it up. That is the point of only promising to read one line.
When you finish reading your one line, don’t put the Bible on the table by your bed. You will not remember to pick it up again. Instead, put it on the floor, on top of your shoes. That way you can’t get dressed without picking it up again. When you get up, read one more line and put the Bible back on your pillow.
If you do this, you will begin and end every day reading the word of God. You will be letting God speak at least a few words to you every morning and every night. That is more than ninety-nine percent of the world does, and perhaps it is more than you yourself are doing right now.

Stop now and think.  Does this make sense to me?
How can I respond to what Fr. Knight is saying?
