Day 24 - April 9
Open Your Eyes!
Open Your Eyes!
The fifth nut and bolt you need to put
together in order to grow into the fullness of life is simply to start noticing, wherever you are, anything
that needs to be changed.
People notice things they feel responsible for. To make a point of noticing everything around you that calls for change is to acknowledge—and experience—responsibility for God’s world, for everything Jesus came to redeem. That is, for everything. Yes, this too is a mystical experience!
This responsibility is yours because at baptism you were consecrated as king, that is, as a sharer, a partner, in Christ’s mission of reforming and ruling over every area and activity of human life on earth. In addition to being a prophet and priest, you are an anointed “steward of the kingship of Christ.” This is an element of the mystery of your life. To be conscious of it is to be having a mystical experience.
Because God anointed you to do it, you are committed by baptism to work for change. But on the level of nuts-and-bolts spirituality, your first step into living out this commitment is just to form the habit of noticing. All you have to do is begin.

Stop
now and think. Does this make sense to
me?
